Escape the City: Livingston Manor, New York

Livingston Manor, New York

I first visited Livingston Manor maybe 10 years ago, during a firewood run on a group camping trip. Since then, I’ve accepted that I’m better suited for a cozy cabin with electricity and private shower instead of a tent and campground community bathroom, but on that journey, I’ve loved watching Livingston Manor grow. It’s clear it’s residents - local and transplants - love their town, want to see it thrive and enjoyed by others as well.

The arnold house tavern

839 Shandelee Rd, Livingston Manor, New York

The Arnold House Tavern brings the vibes and aesthetic, but unfortunately we were less than thrilled with the food. The property is beautiful, though, so a few nights stay would be a dream in any season! In the winter, it turns into a magical snowy wonderland, and in the summer you can enjoy the scenery and pool on the property!

Main Street Farm Market Cafe

36 Main St, Livingston Manor, New York

Main Street Farm Market & Cafe is a Livingston Manor staple. It’s open early and late, curated with the best local and independent brands, and I love grabbing a meal from their cafe!

The Kaatskeller

39 Main Street, Livingston Manor, New York

Nest

34 Main Street, Livingston Manor, New York

This trendy pizza spot can be hit or miss, when they’re good they’re GOOD… but the wait times can be ridiculous and I’ve gotten a few burnt pies grabbing takeaway. It’s a great spot for a group or family, and in good weather you can enjoy dining outside! I do recommend checking it out, despite the inconsistency.

Nest has such a beautiful collection of homewares, art, textiles, and more. Price range is on the higher end, but has some incredible pieces that are definitely worth the splurge!

JEFFERSONVILLE BAKE SHOP

4906 NY-52, Jeffersonville, NY 12748

The Junction

60 Stewart Ave, Roscoe, NY 12776

A 10 minute drive into Roscoe will bring you to The Junction - a restaurant and cocktail bar serving elevated comfort food, signature cocktails and craft beer. Owned by two fly fishing southern transplants that relocated to Upstate New York after some time in Brooklyn. The Junction is a great spot to hang out with friends or meet some new ones!

A 20 minute drive into Jeffersonville will bring you to one of the best bake shops! My 2023 birthday cake was from here and it was such a hit with everyone. We’ve also had some delicious breakfasts here and highly recommend the drive to try it out.

The Vintage house

4910 NY-52, Jeffersonville, NY 12748

Right next to the Jeffersonville Bake Shop, you’ll find this charming Vintage House! Every nook and cranny is filled with curated treasures, you could spend so much time exploring!

Concrete & water

8 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, New York

Back to Livingston Manor - Concrete & Water is a store I always look forward to stopping in. Their website states that they are “a destination for both explorers and local residents alike, offering timeless staples that evolve with you through all seasons of life.” Inside, you’ll find collections of mens, womens, and children’s clothes and accessories and home goods from brands like Alex Mill, Birkenstock, Le Bon Shoppe, First Rite, Mirth, Ciao Lucia, Baggu, and The Great.

HOMESTEDT

6 Pearl Street, Livingston Manor, New York

Right next door to Concrete & Water is a small little rustic cabin filled with your Upstate New York dreams. Pennants, banners, candles, carefully curated wool knits, branded tees and hats, tools, blankets, and so much more. You’ll have so much fun looking through every nook and cranny of this space, and I dare you to try to leave without buying something.

north branch cider mill

38 North Branch Callicoon Centre Road, North Branch, New York

North Branch Cider Mill is a sister to Homestedt, and it is just as charming! This historic cider mill was brought back to life by it’s new owners and their family. A bit of a drive out of town, but well worth the visit. You’ll find everything from the Homestedt cabin and more! Including a sweet group of goats out back.

speaking of homestedt, let’s explore our airbnb…

Homestedt is the vision of Tom and Anna, husband and wife interior designers who have invested so much into Livingston Manor, bringing beautiful spaces to a town worth the attention and exploration. In addition to the Homestedt cabin shop and North Branch Cider Mill, they also host two AirBnB locations - one of which we stayed in (completely coincidental!)

A creative escape to the catskills

A beautiful space to get away from the chaos of the city, and let nature reset your mind a little.

Maybe one of these days we’ll book their Livingston Manor Retreat listing for another getaway to the Catskills.

Have you ever been to Livingston Manor? If so, what did you love most about it? What are some other towns in the Northeastern United States that you find yourself returning to over and over through the years?
