What to Wear In: New York City, Summer Edition
Here’s the beautiful thing about New York City - you can dress however the **** you want.
I’ve walked for blocks in my best Adam Sandler ‘fit just because I had a hankering for one specific cookie. I’ve worn my boldest prints and shapes and textures, and my most boring work appropriate uniforms.
So this list is purely a suggestion, a guide for how many layers to bother with in the suffocatingly humid urban jungle, a reminder that sneakers are always okay with any outfit, and honestly just an exercise for me to play dress up with some of my favorite pieces available right now.

CENTRAL PARK ADVENTURES
The number one rule for exploring New York City in the summer is comfortable shoes - you will underestimate how much walking you do. Don’t end up with blisters and ruin your trip with sore feet.
The second rule is hydration - the subways can get so hot that people have fainted. Walking so much, being exposed to the heat with only brief reprieves in air conditioned shops, please stay hydrated. If you end up using one single tote bag instead of a cute purse, that’s fine. It’s better to explore safely than “in style.”
Lastly, a good tip is to plan museums or plays for bad weather days (if possible) - my favorite thing to do is spend the day at the Met when it’s too hot (or too cold) to exist outdoors.
As a NYC native, I’m always asked to play tour guide (whether physically or just itinerary wise). I love that you value my opinion, but to be quite honest, I have my favorite spots and I don’t venture out of those much. I will try to compile my favorites for anyone who is curious, so stay tuned for more soon!
